The Goyal Research Group develops modeling and simulation tools to explore the interplay between transport processes (heat, mass and momentum) and chemical reactions that are at the heart of clean energy and process intensification technologies. Some of our target applications are biomass pyrolysis and gasification, carbon dioxide capture and utilization, and process intensification based on microwave heating and structured reactors. We work closely with experimentalists to validate and apply our models. Some of the tools we employ are computational fluid dynamics (CFD), machine learning, multiscale simulations, and multiphysics simulations.
